Pacifiers
Washing:
While pacifiers may seem like they’re all fun and games it’s important to remember that just like a little they require lots of attention and care. Properly storing and periodically cleaning your pacifier will go a long way towards extending its longevity and keeping it free of icky germs. Sometimes after lots of use, pacifier nipples may even become worn down or damaged. It's important to remember to inspect them often and replace them whenever necessary!
It is not necessary to disassemble a pacifier in order to wash it. Filling a sink with some warm water and adding in a touch of food-grade dish soap is all you need to clean things up. Put the pacifier into the water and then gently use a cloth to clean all over. Once done, rinse with fresh water and let dry for a few minutes before it’s once again ready to use!
Do not put pacifiers into the dishwasher as this will put stress on the nipple and cause it to gradually degrade. We also do not suggest that you boil your pacifiers. For best results, and to extend the life of a pacifier for as long as possible, only hand washing is recommended.
Storage:
When a pacifier is not being used, storing it in a safe, clean place will ensure that it’s ready to go the next time your little one needs some comfort. There are two different types of pacifier nipples: silicone and latex.
Silicone nipples are less picky and can be stored just about anywhere. However, using a pacifier storage pouch is recommended to keep the pacifier clean and also to make it easy to find or transport.
Latex nipples on the other hand should be kept away from sunlight and moisture as much as possible. Higher temperatures can also cause the shape of a latex nipple to slightly deform or degrade, so storing them in a temperature controlled environment is recommended.
Replacement:
If your favorite pacifier’s nipple begins to wear out, don’t despair! We have replacement nipples available which can be swapped out to make your pacifier as good as new. We recommend periodically changing which pacifier you use, or substituting any worn out nipples with new replacement ones.
